USCCA BASIC PISTOL
USCCA BASIC PISTOL
Have you, in the past, asked yourself, “what should be my first “hands-on” pistol training course?” Well USCCA and J2 Defense have put together just what is needed, the USCCA Basic Handgun Course - a comprehensive 4-hour block of instruction. This course was designed to take the beginner shooter from knowing nothing about handguns, to becoming proficient and confident in a very short amount of time. The USCCA Handgun Program of Instruction (POI) is broken into levels of proficiency. The first two are entry level courses, designed to teach the basics of pistol safety and marksmanship fundamentals. It is the goal of this course to provide you, as the entry level student, with the skills and the knowledge necessary to make you comfortable, as well as safe when handling a firearm. You are not going to become an overnight expert from one of my courses, but you will be confident and competent.
The training philosophy of J2 Defense is at the core of everything we teach and how we train; for example, the pistol, as with any firearm is just a tool, a piece of metal and plastic, you are the weapon. These classes are about preparing you too, not only save your life but others around you. We are not training you to be some sort of lethal weapon or to score high score in some video game, we are teaching you how to protect yourself and your loved ones, to be a responsible gun owner. Remember; the flow of every class will be adjusted based on the experience level of the participants.
The Basic Handgun Course curriculum is divided into three levels of proficiency; 101 and 102 are our foundational courses, 103 is a more advanced foundational course. Pistol 101 is a much slower paced course from 102, allowing the newer student to develop confidence and proficiency at a more manageable pace. Each level builds on the one before and each gives the student the needed and desired understanding of firearm education. We begin with weapons safety, handgun nomenclature, basic weapons operations and the fundamentals of shooting. Each student will learn safe firearm handling techniques and develop their skills utilizing “training firearms” even before we graduate to a live fire shooting range. Course Curriculum:
- Self Defense Firearms Basics
- Defensive Shooting Fundamentals
- Gear and Gadgets
- Basic and Advanced Skills
